Research Integrity Program
The Research Integrity Program seeks to foster a culture of research integrity across the research community. In addition, the program promotes compliance with all institutional policies as well as applicable policies of research sponsors (federal and state of 17³Ô¹ÏÍø), including responsible conduct or research training requirements.
Overview
What is Research Integrity?
Research integrity is the practice of conducting research in a way that engenders trust and confidence in the research process not only by the scientific community but also by the public at large. Practicing research integrity requires adherence to moral and ethical principles as well as commonly accepted professional standards and norms essential for the responsible conduct of research.
Research integrity applies to all types of research and applies to the whole lifecycle of research from initial idea conception through the design, conduct and evaluation of the research all the way through to the reporting of the outcomes of the research.
While violations of research integrity damages research processes and undermine trust in and the credibility of research, it also wastes finite resources and may expose research participants, the public at large or the environment to unnecessary harm. Finally, it can potentially damage the reputation of the institution.
Who does it apply to?
All faculty, staff, trainees (students, postdoctoral research fellows, residents and clinical fellows) engaged in research (basic, translational and clinical).
What is the institution's expectation for the research community and your responsibility?
That all aspects of research are conducted ethically and responsibly to maintain the trust not only of the scientific community but also the public at large. This ensures that the reputation of the institution is preserved.
