The Building Capacity for Patient-Centered Research to Prevent HPV-Related Cancers in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø Project imagines a future without HPV-Related Cancer, Built Together.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is behind six types of cancer, and nearly all of them are preventable. Vaccination and screening already give patients the tools. What's missing is a clear, patient-informed roadmap for putting those tools to work across 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. That's what the project is here to build.

Project Overview:

Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes six types of cancer that are largely preventable through HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening.  Since 2017, the  has been dedicated to the prevention of HPV-related cancers and has identified the need to build capacity in patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) to propel the state forward to its HPV-related cancer elimination goals. 

The goal of this project is to build capacity in patient-centered CER for HPV-related cancer prevention in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. 

The project collaborates with multiple organizations across 17³Ô¹ÏÍø and is housed at the .

Objectives: Our goal will be achieved through the following objectives:

1. Build capacity for patient-centered CER on HPV-related cancer prevention in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.
2. Identify the patient-centered outcomes and the strengths/weaknesses of clinical interventions for HPV-related cancer prevention in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø for future patient-centered CER studies in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.
3. Determine the patient-centered CER priorities for the prevention of HPV-related cancers in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.
4. Formalize an HPV-related cancer prevention patient-centered CER research agenda for 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.

Activities: Our primary activities to achieve our objectives include:

1. Engage the Community Advisory Group to build patient-centered CER capacity and guide the patient-centered CER research agenda for HPV-related cancer prevention in 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.
2. Participate in and disseminate trainings/resources to build 17³Ô¹ÏÍø HPV Coalition capacity for patient-centered CER in HPV-related cancer prevention.
3. Conduct a literature synthesis of clinical interventions for HPV-related cancer prevention.
4. Review HPV-related cancer prevention data and conduct a Delphi survey among stakeholders.
5. Conduct virtual focus groups to prioritize the patient-centered CER research agenda and disseminate the research agenda to the broader community.
6. Produce the patient-centered CER HPV-related cancer prevention research agenda for 17³Ô¹ÏÍø.
