Treatment
Some of these procedures we perform include:
- Minimally invasive MAZE procedure for atrial fibrillation is a procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to disrupt the abnormal electrical conduction of the heart and restores normal heart rhythm.
- Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is a minimally-invasive approach to surgery. Instead of one large incision, surgeons make multiple small incisions and use cameras to see inside the chest. This decreases pain after surgery, and allows for a more rapid recovery.
- Left atrial appendage surgery blocks off this small appendage to stop blood from clotting there and potentially causing stroke.
- Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) involves the placement of a device, such as a pacemaker, that helps regulate the heart's contractions and improve blood flow throughout the body.
