Joseph Goodson Gregg

M.D./Ph.D. Student

Joseph Goodson Gregg is a graduate student in the  (MD/PhD Program) studying Research Domain Criteria via neuroimaging metanalytics under the mentorship of Peter Fox, M.D. For his research, Joseph Goodson Gregg is studying the statistical validity of positive and negative emotional valence domains through large scale meta-analysis of BrainMap neuroimaging data. For his clinical specialty, Joseph Goodson Gregg is considering pursuing Psychiatry.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Iowa. Both my parents played music and were artists, and while I don't play music, I really love it. I've always had cats, originally they were barn cats on my farm. I brought my favorite barn cat Mr. Rogers to 17³Ô¹ÏÍø, and love having him around. Sometimes he gets to go for walks.

Hobbies/Interests

When I get the chance, I enjoy traveling abroad. But most commonly you can find me hiking and enjoying the outdoors (whenever weather allows). I also love tasty chicken, and enjoy Pollos Asados Los Nortenos, Wayne's Wings, and Pasha.

Why I chose MD/PhD

I choose MD/PhD because I believe the training will give me the knowledge and resilience needed to contribute meaningfully to others through research and patient care. Now I hope to combine my interest in helping patients with psychiatric issues with my research interest of neuroimaging methods.

Why I chose MD/PhD at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø

Dr. Cavazos regularly spoke with me throughout my application process, and was a key reason for me wanting to come to 17³Ô¹ÏÍø. My interactions with the program administrators, namely Jennifer and Alyssa, also were very positive and set UTHSCSA apart.
