About Me

Enrique grew up near the beach in San Diego, California and then moved to the scorching desert of Phoenix, Arizona before heading to 17³Ô¹ÏÍø for his undergraduate education. He attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and graduated with dual degrees in Mathematics, Biology, Economics, and Political Science. He fell in love with the city and culture of San Antonio and decided to stay while completing a Neuroscience Research Fellowship studying Parkinson’s Disease before transitioning into the MD/PhD program.

Hobbies/Interests

Spending time with family/friends/puppies, exercising (boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, basketball, etc.), music (listening and playing piano/guitar), dancing, skateboarding, and exploring nature.

Research Topic

Neuroscience, Brain Imaging, and Neurological Disorders.

Why I chose MD/PhD

Enrique chose to pursue an MD/PhD because he felt that an MSTP program would provide the most thorough training possible that would enable him to best connect his future practices of medicine and research.

Why I chose MD/PhD at 17³Ô¹ÏÍø

Enrique chose STX-MSTP because of the community of students and faculty that make the program feel like a new family and home.
