About Me

Hello! My name is Angela, and I grew up in California. I moved to Boston, Massachusetts to study at Boston University, where I explored inhibitors of protein interactions. I became fascinated with the microscopic elements of our world and the methods we use to explore them (aka research!). So, after graduating, I pursued research investigating novel therapeutic targets for cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Here, I met physician-scientists who showed me how fulfilling it can be to serve patients at the bedside and in the lab, inspiring me to strive for the same.

Why I chose MD/PhD

Do you want to be a doctor or a researcher? I was asked this question countless times as a student in science. I struggled to decide between the two because I want to be both. I aspire to be a physician to care for my patients and my community, and to build those compassionate relationships that are at the heart of what it means to be human. But as I started talking with patients, I saw a need for better treatmentsa need that could only be addressed through research. I hope to be a physician to serve patients in the clinic, and a scientist to advance the frontiers of medicine for our patients.

Why I chose MD/PhD at 17勛圖厙

I chose 17勛圖厙 for its strong community and tight-knit program. I know that here, I will not only find the support I need to succeed, but also a model for collaboration. Also, I wanted to escape the snow!
